The Technology
What Is REMS Technology?
REMS stands for Radiofrequency Echographic Multi-Spectrometry. It is an ultrasound-based technology developed by Echolight that measures both bone mineral density and bone quality with clinical precision, using sound waves rather than radiation.
In plain language: it gives you a more complete, more accurate and entirely radiation-free picture of your bone health than traditional methods.
The Process
How Does REMS Work?
During your assessment a small probe is placed against the skin at the hip and spine. The device emits ultrasound waves that travel through the bone and surrounding tissue. As those waves return, the REMS system analyses the signals using a sophisticated algorithm to assess both the density and the structural quality of your bone tissue.
The result is a clinically validated set of scores including your T-score, Z-score and fragility score for both sites, giving you and any healthcare professional you choose to share them with a precise and meaningful picture of your skeletal health.
The whole process takes around 30 minutes. It is completely painless, non-invasive and requires no special preparation.
